The end is in sight. Sunday, March 1st, 6pm SLT---Come join me in saying goodbye to the Novem franchise. It's been a crazy year, so I'd like to commemorate it appropriately.... Remember all the fuss about live sex shows, and nipples, and architecture that defied the laws of physics? (gasp!)Well, let's relive those moments and many more, and have a wake befitting the harlot that is Novem. Discover, at long last, what's behind the green door.

The theme for the last dance is an Alt Masquerade. Don't come as you are---come as who you want to be. Create an Alt (or use one you already have) and let your Freak Flag Fly! Do what you dare not do, lest the neighbors on respectable street discover your nasty habits.

There will be dancing, with music provided by two of Novem's DJs; Naked Innertube Racing (yes, I've been talking about this for a long time, but this time it's really happening!); some Novem trivia with cash prizes; and a "Back Room" for the more adventurous of the attendees. We survived the move from New Babbage to Winterfell. We've had the best DJ's in SL play for us, and we threw the most infamous parties in the Victorian Grid.

From absynthe house and burlesque and emergency clinic to pirate's tavern, we've seen and done it all. We've been entertaining you for over a year, which is a long time in SL . But all good things must come to an end.

In the tradition of Mystery Science Theatre 3000 I will again be showing an old movie for your captioning pleasure, be it through text or voice. Last week we played that old Steelhead stanby Saddle Mountain Roundup starring Hotspur's favorite serialist, Crash Corrigan.

An audience member said, "Hey, this is a pirate's tavern, let's see a pirate movie!"

Your wish is my command! Dredged from the flotsam and jetsam of the Prelinger Archives is the 1941 classic Captain Kidd, who looks just like Jack Sparrow. Maybe after a couple barrels of rum and with two eyepatches on, but whatever. So dress piratey and help fight global warming! YARRRR!

The movie will start promptly at 7:15. Synchronize your movie streams!

This Week at Port Novem

With this holiday week upon us, I wanted to let you know that Port Novem will, of course, be open, but without the DJs. Feel free to come by and hang out anyway, as the music stream will be going nonstop. And as Doc Mason mentioned in the previous post, this Friday at 7pm brings a new event to Port Novem: Novem's Magic Lantern, our own version of Mystery Science Theatre. Novem's Magic Lantern!

To my knowledge this sort of experiment has been performed at the old Steelhead Theatre, at Polymath, and at a tiny dive on the Mainland called the Elbow Room.

But for the FIRST TIME on record participants are welcome to deride the film using both TEXT and VOICE.

Our first magic lantern show will be that horrible classic that Steelheaders love to hate, Saddle Mountain Roundup. Now a whole new generation of avatars can marvel at this piece of drek written generations before Political Correctness, featuring the World's Loneliest Cowboy and the World's Dumbest Goon!

Please show up promptly so everyone can synchronize their view of the film. (If any script maven devised a method to circumvent this, please contact me.)

Turn your View to Midnight, your Particles off, and please leave your extra prims at home.

Time for another plug. I'd like to introduce you to some fun items to make your SL property more festive. Otto Jeffries has come up with a line of creative elements to decorate your land. I first met Otto about 6 weeks ago, when he gave me a pack of pumpkin seeds which, when placed on the ground, grew into a pumpkin after pumpkin, that rolled away after growing. Since then, I've had the pleasure to own Otto's "Stumbo's Beanstalk" in my yard, which offers a nice place to sit at the top, when you've finally figured out how to climb it! And now, as winter is upon us, Otto brings us ice and snow: place these babies in your your yard and you've got enough flurries to get you through the upcoming season.

This Friday is Halloween so we've got some special DJ sets lined up this week. Last night was the Port Novem debut DJ Magdalena Kamenev. She played a long set and, still, it wasn't long enough! Last night good friend of Port Novem, Cookie Bookmite (no relation), answered a call for help over the Winterfell Group Chat. Ok, it was a call for a place to dance, but Cookie let Isole Juliesse know that there is always streaming music at Port Novem, and suggested that she come over and dance there. Cookie made an announcement to the Muses Playhouse group (please join, if you're not already a member), and in a short time the place was jumping. And speaking of jumping, pictured above is Lulu Seetan keeping her cool in a deluge of toads, courtesy of our new friend Wrath Constantine. Cookie is dancing under a torrent of cats and dogs, while Cyn Sweetwater, Magdalena Kamenev, Dybbuk Denimore, Tinker Imako, and Wrath Constantine dance under the falling sparkles. I am as happy as a clam with the way things are going at Port Novem. We've had a steady turn out, and have a regular schedule of events Wednesdays through Friday. Lately, however, it seems that one night of each week is a little bit different: one week it was a Wake for a dead demon; the next it was a rez day party for Dr. Darien Mason.

And this week, it's yet another rez day party. This one should be an absolute hoot: Miss Stacks Kowalski, blogger about her SL "sexcapades," is celebrating one year on the grid in true Stacksaplenty fashion: Stacks is renting out a venue in an Italian sim, which boasts a giant plate of profiteroles you can climb on, and a circus tent with a tightrope and trapeze that you can use to show off your high wire expertise. Oh, and there will be rampant sex with latex-clad beings. Mmhmmm... Check out Stacks' blog to decide if this is the kind of person you want to fraternize with! Thanks to all of you who came to Port Novem this past week. I've never met so many fun and friendly people!! My first week went swimmingly! And, omg--you DJs! You totally ROCK! Kiralette Kelley, your choice of big band music was stellar! Annastina Christensen played the best in requests and dance tunes. And Nova Sakigake played top-shelf Goth, Industrial, and requests on Friday evening. All DJ shifts are 7-9pm SL, with Anna on Wednesday, Kira on Thursday, and Nova on Friday. Let me introduce myself!

I'm AliceWendy Bookmite, (aka Alice) the new manager of Port Novem (formerly Novem: Port in the Storm; formerly Novem: Winterfell; formerly Novem: the Muses Playhouse). My goodness, what a mouthful! But it's smooth sailing into Port Novem from this point out!

I met LuLu Seetan ages ago at a club known for its dancing dead girls, so when MissLily decided to go on a break from Second Life, LuLu called me and I jumped up and twirled around saying YES! PICK ME! PICK ME! And here I am! *grinz*

"What's new about this Novem? What's the same?" I hear the crowd clammoring for information, so here goes--Port Novem is the new name. We are still having parties on Wednesdays (Big Band), Thursdays (eclectic), and Fridays (Goth and Industrial). I moved the buildings around on the Novem land so that the tavern is at the front of the property, and a Victorian house is at the rear. There are nice places to sit, swing, and play so take some time to explore the property.

The first event I will oversee will be a sad one. I have been recruited as Funeral Director for the Wake and Memorial for *looks back over her notes* This can't be right...Bloodwing? I don't know Bloodwing, but Gematria SteelGears has asked me to put together a tribute for him, and since I have experience planning events, I said ok! I'm up for a challange! :D Oopsies. I should not smile when someone is dead, even if it's a Demon. I will be professional in the duties put to me. Gematria is trusting me to do a good job, so I shall! If anybody has a picture of Bloodwing I can use for a memorial display you can give it to me in Second Life.

I'm very excited about the new direction LuLu has said I can take Port Novem in! You're asking yourself "WHAT ABOUT THE GIRLS?!! WHERE ARE THE MUSES???!!!" LuLu and I will plan and you will find out soon! I hope you will be excited too!!!!!

A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall

It's been almost a month since the big move, and The Muses Playhouse has made a successful transition to its current location in Winterfell Laudanum. Miss Serra has been very welcoming to us, and we look forward to continued success here. However, there will be one change in the Novem line-up: as of August 31, I will be stepping down as co-owner/manager of Novem: Winterfell. I had hopes that the move to a new venue would alleviate some of the stress in my SL, but as of yet the pain of the past still outweighs the rewards.

Taking my place will be a friend of Lulu's, AliceWendy Bookmite, who has worked at other clubs in SL. Viv and Lulu know that her experience and enthusiasm will bring a new and feisty twist to the Novem business, furthering what I started. I'm not quitting SL entirely, but I am taking a step back from the business end of things. I wish Lulu and Vivian much luck in whatever direction they wish to take Novem. Please direct all questions about the business of Novem to Lulu Seetan.

(BTW, i understand there is to be an establishment with a name similar to my own, in another Sim. I am not involved in that venture, but I wish them all the luck in the world.)

A Grand Opening, Indeed

The first event at our new home in Winterfell Laudanum was a wonderful success, to the point that after Mitsu Figaro's shift was over, Nova Sakigake volunteered to take over the turntables and keep the party going. Last week's theme was Villians in Literature, and the costume winners were Gregoe Zlatkis for his portrayal of the Headless Horseman; and Bela Lubezki as Harley Quinn. Great costumes you guys! The Next Chapter

When I came to Babbage Palisade so many months ago to help my sister Vivian run her brothel, I felt that the world was my oyster. We loved Steampunk and were excited to find a town that so totally captured what we liked about it. She and I commissioned a remarkable building, modeled after one by H.H. Richardson. As the months went on, our plans for Novem morphed and changed, from a burlesque theatre to, finally, a location for weekly themed entertainment. All the while, the escort business was firmly part of the plan. However, because of one thing and another (complaints from neighbors, building code violations, etc.), it was only a matter of time before the business changed its face. Vivian has busied herself with other projects, and our younger sister, Lulu Seetan, stepped up to co-host the Wednesday events with either Darien Mason or Gematria SteelGears.

Darien has gone through some changes, his own self: you might have noticed that he looks a bit younger than he did a month ago. It seems that the good Doctor had some sort of run-in with...a space-time continuum? A wormhole? I have no idea what happened to him, but for the time being he's a precocious 13 year old boy, full of youthful enthusiasm and bad judgement. I suffered the repercussion of this venturesome cocktail myself when the boy blew up our landmark building. Coming home one evening, instead of finding our magnificent stone structure, I saw a ramshackle wharf building filled with crates, barrels, and rum. This turned out to be fortuitous, however, as the theme for this week's event was "Piracy on the Palisade!"

For the event this past Wednesday, Gabrielle Riel herself filled in for the vacationing Mitsu Figaro, and man did she play some tunes. I had requested reggae/Caribbean/Latin music, and she did not disappoint. The crowd had a great time. The Best Pirate prizes went to Jenny Merryman for Best Female, and to Huntington Albatros for Best Male. Thanks to Fauve Aeon and Star Fairymeadow, respectively, for supplying this week's prizes.

After the prizes were given out, my staff and I were surprised by a turn in the normally pleasant demeanor of the men of the S.S. Seraph. Captain Maelstorme Smythe ordered August Dayafter and Gregoe Zlatkis to take me, Lulu, and Gematria up to their ship. We were manhandled (yay!) and forced to board their ship, but were then unceremoniously dumped at Winterfell Laudanum--no ransom demand, no plundering--just thrown overboard! Hmph.

But Winterfell turns out to be just what the Novem family needs right now: a quiet, beautiful spot to offer up our particular brand of entertainment (dancing, girls, and dancing girls...), in a Sim that does not have quite as many stifling regulations. I enjoyed our stay in Babbage, but the time had come to move on. And now, finding ourselves really liking the pirate motif, we put up a small tavern that fits this theme nicely. It even has a "naughty room" upstairs!

So, come by to look at our new digs, toss back an ale or two, drink some rum, and play with a strumpet. I think you'll enjoy the change of scenery. (Until I get the SLurl for the location, IM me or Lulu Seetan in world for more information.

The day has come--Piracy on the Palisade is upon us! Avast ye blowholes and shiver me chum bucket! Have we got booty for you! In addition to the usual demented trivia questions (worth $L100 each), we have prizes for best pirate costumes. Best Female Pirate wins a beautiful pirate dolly key created for us by Fauve Aeon of All Dolled Up. "A key," you ask? Oh, it's not just any key--it's called "Double Jeopardy" and, according to Fauve, it is loaded with "pyrate goodness!" It has a drop-down menu with 8 custom winds, ticks on and off, and comes with a configurable note card to allow permission for people to wind the Doll. It tattles in chat when unauthorized users touch it, and "gives them a shock!" It will be offered for sale in the main ADU shop for L$500.

This past Wednesday, Fairy Tale characters of every ilk populated the magical grounds at Novem, as we hosted our weekly event, this time celebrating tales of enchantment and woe. Let me start by thanking Mr. Hap Underwood, who created a Glass Slipper for us in honor of the occasion. Hap never fails to surprise and delight. Check out his other creations at Irkmade. (I believe, however, that the slipper is still a prototype.)

The costume winners this week were Doctor Augustus Dayafter of Seraph Enterprises, and Mrs. Jenny Merryman of Jenny Lane Soapmakers. Each winner received a pumpkin cottage provided by LeeLu Anatine.

Little fairy princess Gematria SteelGears did a fine job as co-hostess with Lulu Seetan. You'd almost think that Gem had done this kind of thing before....

Next week's event is PIRACY ON THE PALISADE! (Insert pirate vernacular here....)

Another whiz bang event at Novem: The Muses Playhouse this Wednesday, July 23rd. Airship Day saw a record crowd as people rode the Aer Traba Lily (*blush*) and danced to the music of DJ Mitsu Figaro. The build was designed and constructed by Brandlew Babenco, a name to watch, for sure! The ship will still be docked at Novem for a few more days, so come on by and take a look.

Lulu Seetan did a great job of co-hosting with young Master Darien Mason, who seems to have gone through some sort of time travel thingy, only to come out the other end as his 12 year old self. Hmmm...good thing that Novem is all ages now.

This week's costume prizes were awarded to Kol Wysznik for Best Captain, and to yours truly for Best Crew. Kol's prize was a piano, and mine was a metal robot guy, both built and donated by Brandlew (sorry BB--I didn't see the prize up close yet, as Lulu hasn't given it to me yet!) Lulu took some off-the-cuff pics at the event, so check our Flickr to see what you missed, or to possibly see yourself in our photo stream. I'll include links to other pictures as I get them.

Due to the popularity of our Alice in Wonderland set at The Muses Playhouse, we'll be leaving it up through Sunday, July 20th. Last night's Lewis Carroll event was a great success, with lots of new friends in attendance, as well as our favorite old friends returning. Unfortunately Vivian went mad and was unable to attend, so my co-hostess for the evening was the increasingly insane Lulu Seetan.

Per my request, Mistu changed things up a bit, music-wise, going, instead, for a "demented carnival sound," and the crowd loved it. Great work, Mitsu!

Everybody outdid themselves with the costumes last night--you people keep getting more and more creative with every week. Our birdbrained host Darien Mason was a Dodo. Lulu Seetan was the top Alice of the pack, having won the title "Most Wondrous Character" (the prize was a tea table set donated by Christine McAllister--thanks very much). A few mad hatters dotted the crowd, with Xavier Wilkinson AGAIN winning the contest (Maddest Character). He won a gigantic chess set created and donated by Flea Habilis. (And thanks Flea for all you help greeting people, making cloud chairs, giving me hugs, etc.) Flea was a particularly sexy bunny, as was her friend whose name escapes me...sorry! Then there was a Donnie Darko bunny (Dr. Dayafter); a ketchup eating bunny (Wires Blackburn), as well as some cute bunnies, some playing cards, some glamorous ladies, a flamingo, a few cats I believe.... All around--a great turn out.

We're leaving the giant chess set on the roof of the flats across the street to the south of Novem, so if you want to play, feel free. There are floating cloud chairs in place for you to see the board with ease.

Welcome One and All

Starting in about an hour (appx. 3pm SL), Novem: the Muses Playhouse will be open to all SL residents. Vivian and I have thought long and hard (heh heh) about this and have decided to take down the pictures of people engaging in acts of love as god had intended. In other words, the porn is coming off the walls. Also, the sex bed will be gone. (But if you ask nicely, perhaps we'll tell you where it is....)

In this new age to come, folks of every age, gender, and species are invited to attend our events. No more urchins peeping in the windows looking to see who's doing what to whom. No more people using the sex beds without permission. No more bare-breasted mermaids (sorry Genie--frankly I thought you were a magnificent mermaid, but some bureaucrat decided you needed to be covered up--it sure as hell wasn't me!).

But worry not people: we will renew our focus on this part of the business in due time. We have a cunning plan, and the bawdy vision that Vivian and I have had from the beginning will continue to grow and fluourish...just, perhaps, not here. Watch this space for more news to come.

In the meantime, all are welcome to attend our celebration of all things Lewis Carroll tomorrow from 7-9pm SL. Or stop by any time during the day to experience our Wonderland set, with photo ops galore, and steaming dance music. ~Lily, aka "Dinah" for the Lewis Carroll event.

Friday Night Lounge

This past Friday we had another nice turnout for our new Friday Night Lounge. And it's not just Fridays--we have music playing all the time, so come on over and use our dance floor (right click on the copper floor to start), or use the couples dance machine (right click again). We've had an influx of people around since Loki Eliot's beautiful machinima hit the web, so thanks for the good PR, young Master Eliot. We've made some new friends here at Novem, so stop by and I'm sure you'll see some new folks hovering around.

"OFF WITH THEIR HEADS" week at Novem!

Happy Bastille Day! Heads will be rolling all week at Novem! Starting today there will be a guillotine on the first landing on the stairs, for you to take care of those that have overstepped their authority. (There are some "naughty poses" on the guillotine, so please, please, PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM, or I will be booted out of town and there will be no more fun parties! But blood and decapitation are fine, so knock yourselves out.)

Then on Wednesday, 7-9pm SL, the mayhem continues with our "All Things Lewis Carroll, All the Time" event. We'll have a free "Gift Hookah" filled with assorted goodies pertaining to Mr. Carroll and the Alice stories. The costume contest will be for Maddest Character, and for Most Wondrous Character. Christine McAllister Pearse is graciously donating one of this week's prizes, a boxed tea table set with scones, sandwich assortment, a pot of tea and a table. Thank you very much Mrs. Pearse--you and your husband have been most kind. There will also be a Lewis Carroll exhibit on loan from the Caledon Library, thanks to the very generious Sir JJ Drinkwater. So dress up, come on down, and have fun with us at The Muses Playhouse.

As usual, the events are being presented by MissLily Nightfire and her lovely sister in crime, MissVivian Looming. On Wednesday our charming host is the dashing (and a bit mad) Dr. Darien Mason; and music will be provided by Dr. Mitsu Figaro of Radio Riel.

This Wednesday brought another crowd of folks to Novem: The Muses Playhouse, this week the celebration being in honor of Nikola Tesla's Birthday. Doc Mason did a splendid job as host...when he finally arrived *cough*. And again we had the wonderful Dr. Mitsu Figaro spinning tunes for us. (And I've said it before, but I'll say it again: you can't swing a dead urchin in New Babbage without hitting a Doctor. Dr. Augustus Dayafter was also in attendance at the soiree, although, frankly, I don't think he's a real doctor.)

For this week's theme, the costume contest was for Best Mad Scientist and Best Guinea Pig, the prize for the former going to Quinn Galthie, and the latter going to Xavier Wilkinson. Quinn's prize was a Studley Toolchest, generously donated by Mr. Edward Pearse (available for purchase at Pearse on Babbage). Xavier's prize was a...um...hysterical paroxysm device, invented by Iason Hassanov, who is one mad genius, his own self. And if anyone out there wants to purchase this device, contact Iason in world. I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of this machine, although I'm finding that a single treatment isn't quite enough!

And along those lines, Wednesday's event turned out to be quite a bawdy event, with Mr. Wilkinson demonstrating his prize (although I don't think he really knew what would happen when he clicked that pink ball), and wild talk by various ladies in attendance. I was very happy to see this side of my neighbor ladies.

As usual, the lovely and talented Lulu Seetan documented the festivities. That woman does have an eye.... Check out pictures from this and other events at Flickr. That picture above is me in my Dolly avatar, portraying "A Product of Mason Labs." I'm giving Mr. Hassanov a great big hug and getting the life crushed out of me. Oh well, such is the life of a Doll. Our Robot Friends came to Dance -- by Miss Lily

Last Wednesday, June 25th Novem held its celebration of Boilerplate/Clockwork Day with a tribute to our non-organic friends. Bots came from wide-flung areas of the grid to show what they're made of, and to dance to the music of Mitsu Figaro from Radio Riel. Yours truly was flattered to have been voted "Cutest Construct," the prize being a Dolly AV donated by the super fabulous katatOnik Pidgeon. I must say, I think I will make a lovely doll. But I will let you be the judge. (See picture at end of piece.) Coincidentally, my avatar for the evening (designed by Juliet Ceres) was procured at the Axis Mundi Sim where Miss Pidgeon holds court. No need for a recount--I've been told it was a landslide! *wink* Take a look at the pictures and you'll see that it was inevitable. I believe the prancing AO was what put me over the top. (Although, honestly, except for the difference in color, Vivian and I were identical. That's me in turquoise, and Viv in pink.)

The prize for "Most Intimidating Construct" was awarded to Xavier Wilkinson, and Xavier will receive an avatar of choice from Grendel's Children, donated by Flea Bussy.

Setting off the look of the evening was a lawn robot, created by Almia Thayer, which stood watch over the bouncing crowd; and the backdrop for the event, which was a reproduction of a painting by Eric Joyner, entitled, "The Final Blow," depicting the knockout of one Rock'em Sock'em Robot(tm) by another. Check out Eric's show at the Museum of Robots, and, if you're in San Francisco Bay area, see his paintings in person at the San Jose Museum of Art.

BABBAGE PALISADE--From the outside, the large gray stone and brick Richardsonian Romanesque building looks staid and somber to Mr. Dodgson. But as he ascends the wide stone steps to the oak doorway, his impression begins to change. Sounds of excitement and joie de vivre spill out of the building as he opens the door. He walks in and is immediately greeted by a lovely young girl, dressed as a fae. "Welcome to The Muses Playhouse, Mr...?" the nymph says. "Dodgson," he stammers nervously as the young woman takes him by the elbow and seats him at a table near the stage, giving him an an unobstructed view of a vision in feathers and sparkles. He'd read about these fan dancers, but had never seen one in the flesh. He sits, mesmerized by the undulating movements of the practiced terpsichorean. The dancer approaches the table and smiles at Mr. Dodgson. She offers him a quick peek at what's behind the feathers, whispers something to him, and then dances over to the next table.

A tall, willowy brunette slides onto the chair next to Mr. Dodgson and extends her hand to him. "Hello, Mr. Dodgson. I'm MissLily Nightfire. Welcome to Novem: The Muses Playhouse." Her smile puts him at ease, and her warm hand in his, is comforting. "I run this establishment with my sister, MissVivian Looming."

"Thank you. I'm new around here. What is this place?" he asks, looking around at the other patrons: people drinking, dancing, watching the dancer on the stage who has just shed another article of clothing behind her ostrich plumes.

Lily watches as he watches the dancer. "The Muses Playhouse is an Emporium of the Erotic, Mr. Dodgson. We have events on Wednesdays that are themed to a different aspect of the steampunk aesthetic each week; we have dancers, like Miss Ayres up there; and, of course, there are the Muses of Novem, who will delight and inspire you. They are quite lovely and will fulfill your wildest fantasy."

"This is a brothel?" he asks, continuing to survey the room. Lily laughs politely, "A brothel, Mr. Dodgson, and so much more. Yes, the Muses are available for conversation and dancing, as well as more intimate activities. But A large part of our draw is our entertainment." Lily notices that his gaze has come to rest on the buxom blond at the far end of the room. "Ah, yes...that's Miss Kowalski. She makes quite an impression, doesn't she? Would you like to meet her?" Mr. Dodgson nods blankly. "Come along, dear," Lily says as she takes his arm. "Let's go introduce you to her."

As they reach the table, Miss Kowalski stands to greet them. She wears a blue and silver brocade corset, which offsets her deep blue eyes and her nickel colored hair. Though she wears brown striped slacks, she could not look more feminine. "I am so very pleased to meet you Mr. Dodgson," she says as she takes his hand in hers, letting the handshake linger. "How do you know my name?" he asks. Miss Kowalski laughs, "That would be telling, now, wouldn't it! Actually, Mr. Dodgson, I saw you looking at me and I inquired as to your identity. Come have a seat next to me." She pats on the settee next to her, motioning for him to join her.

"This is quite a place," he says as he sits down, leaving plenty of room between himself and Miss Kowalski. "Could you tell me more about Novem? For instance," he says, motioning to his attire, "am I dressed properly? I had no idea I was stopping in, so I didn't clothe myself specially for this visit."

"Honestly, you look fine, Mr. Dodgson. There is no formal 'dress code' at Novem, but we do prefer our guests to dress in the spirit of steampunk or the Victorian era. Or if we are having a themed event, like our celebration of clockwork entities, we ask that people try to dress according to theme. But it is not mandatory."

"Do you, um, work here, Miss Kowalski? If you understand what I'm saying...." Miss Kowalski smiles at the nervous man, "Of course I know what you mean. Yes, I am an escort, meaning that my time is paid for by my clients. It can be as inexpensive at $L25 for a dance, or as much as $L2000 for an hour of my time. All of the Muses of Novem are available to clients for the same rates. One simply purchases the appropriate ticket from the vending machine, and gives it to the Muse of his choice." Miss Kowalski places her hand on Mr. Dodgson's and runs her fingers lightly along his fingers. "On the second floor there are pictures of all of the Muses, along with notecards detailing their special...attributes. You would just click on the picture and contact the Muse, and she will get back to you. Or, if you choose, you can speak directly with the Muses that are attending or working whatever event is taking place."

Mr. Dodgson's eyes widen. "What sort of special attributes?" he asks.

"I thought that might catch your interest. We have a variety of ladies who work here. There are the classic Human beauties...and we have a Shemale working with us for those with specialized tastes..." Mr. Dodgson blinks, and glances about the room again. Miss Kowalski covers her mouth and laughs slightly before continuing. "We also have Neko girls on staff, and we even a life-sized mechanical Doll programmed to satisfy the needs of any gentleman caller! So you see, we have something for almost everyone."

Mr. Dodgson feels Miss Kowalski's foot brush against his ankle beneath the table. He straightens up in his chair.

"We're always looking to hire more women to escort and dance, so if you hear of anyone who might be interested, please refer them to MissVivian Looming. She handles most of the personnel details. MissLily Nightfire deals more with putting the events together, for example, procuring prizes for contests, finding props for themed events, etc. And of course they both work the events, which are hosted by Dr. Darien Mason, who himself has quite a bit of experience hosting throughout the area. Some find him charming, some irritating, but never dull!"

He leans forward to whisper. "Dr. Mason? Isn't he a Mad Scientist or something?"

"He's a bit eccentric, yes, but he's really nice once you get to know him. And he so loves to entertain!" He nods slowly and leans back in his chair.

"When is your next event?" asks Mr. Dodgson.

"Our events are typically held on Wednesday evenings, from 7 to 9pm, Second Life time. However, there is music playing 24 hours a day, so people are invited to come and dance at any hour. I think it's a very nice place to spend time with a friend or a new acquaintance, curled up on a settee or sitting at a table having a sip of Absinthe." She tilts her head, smiling coyly at the guest. "I'd be especially happy if our friends from the Southern hemisphere discovered Novem and spent time here. We plan on hosting an event at an accessible time for them to attend."

"Miss Kowalski, you have been most kind to spend time talking to me. Would you care to dance?" Mr. Dodgson asks as he rises from the settee and extends his hand to her.

Miss Kowalski stands as well and accepts his hand. Together they find a place on the dance floor. "Of course Mr. Dodgson. The first dance is on the house," she says with a wink.
