This Week at Port Novem

With this holiday week upon us, I wanted to let you know that Port Novem will, of course, be open, but without the DJs. Feel free to come by and hang out anyway, as the music stream will be going nonstop. And as Doc Mason mentioned in the previous post, this Friday at 7pm brings a new event to Port Novem: Novem's Magic Lantern, our own version of Mystery Science Theatre. (See Doc's post below for more info.) Next week the DJs will return with Magz on Wednesday, 8-10; Kira on Thursday 7-9;.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday!

And now for something completely different - Novem's Magic Lantern!

This Friday at 7pm at Port Novem we will have a new event. In the tradition of Myster Science Theater 3000 I present...

Novem's Magic Lantern!

To my knowledge this sort of experiment has been performed at the old Steelhead Theatre, at Polymath, and at a tiny dive on the Mainland called the Elbow Room.

But for the FIRST TIME on record participants are welcome to deride the film using both TEXT and VOICE.

Our first magic lantern show will be that horrible classic that Steelheaders love to hate, Saddle Mountain Roundup. Now a whole new generation of avatars can marvel at this piece of drek written generations before Political Correctness, featuring the World's Loneliest Cowboy and the World's Dumbest Goon!

Please show up promptly so everyone can synchronize their view of the film. (If any script maven devised a method to circumvent this, please contact me.)

Turn your View to Midnight, your Particles off, and please leave your extra prims at home.

Now YOU Can Control the Weather!

Time for another plug. I'd like to introduce you to some fun items to make your SL property more festive. Otto Jeffries has come up with a line of creative elements to decorate your land. I first met Otto about 6 weeks ago, when he gave me a pack of pumpkin seeds which, when placed on the ground, grew into a pumpkin after pumpkin, that rolled away after growing. Since then, I've had the pleasure to own Otto's "Stumbo's Beanstalk" in my yard, which offers a nice place to sit at the top, when you've finally figured out how to climb it! And now, as winter is upon us, Otto brings us ice and snow: place these babies in your your yard and you've got enough flurries to get you through the upcoming season.

Otto's new shop, Mother's Nature can be found at disturbing world (67, 189, 21). Tell Otto that Lil sent you!

This Week at Port Novem

Just to remind you, we have DJs on Wednesdays through Fridays, so here's the schedule for this week, and the fare being offered up for your listening and dancing pleasure:

  • DJ Dybbuk is back on Wednesday, Nov. 12th, 7-9pm SL, spinning tunes from his embarrassingly extensive collection of New Wave music
  • Thursday brings DJ Kira with Big Band night. Come relax to the mellow sounds of Dean and Frank and Rosemary and all the rest. 7-9pm SL
  • Friday it's DJ Nova, 7-9pm SL, playing Industrial and Goth, so come on down for the Sturm und Drang
Also: For those of you looking to make a home on a steampunk sim, might I suggest Steelhead Port Harbor? This American Victorian Steampunk Industrial port is now prebooking, and Doc Mason and I have each staked out our claim on a little piece of industrial heaven. IM TotalLunar Eclipse for details. (And Novem is staying in Winterfell, so don't worry!)

Nothing is Constant Except Change

Changes are afoot at Port Novem--get your scorecards ready:

Musical Lineup:
  • Wednesdays, 8-10pm SL: Magdalena Kamenev (with Dybbuk Denimore doing a special set from time to time)
  • Thursdays, 7-9pm SL: Kiralette Kelley, alternating Big Band and "DJ's choice" on alternate Thursdays
  • Friday, 7-9pm SL: Nova Sakigake: Industrial/Gothic every week

Another change: I, Lily, am now sole owner/manager of Port Novem. Lulu has gone on to another project that's been taking up a lot of her time. Alice was just kind of filling in until I felt like coming back, and now I do, so: Bye Alice, and thanks.

Darien Mason is still with Port Novem, hosting his little heart out. If he's not paying enough attention to you as a guest, you have my permission to bust his chops. If he pays too much attention to you...well, come talk to me! (jk Doc!)

Thanks to all of you who've supported Novem at its original location, and then with the move to Winterfell Laudanum as Port Novem.

That is all.

xoxox, Lily
